Bhutan Chöd Damaru Drum Handmade in Nepal A traditional-style damaru made for Chöd and Vajrayana practice. Within the Chöd tradition, the damaru is used as a ritual instrument during prayer, visualization, offering, and meditation practice. Its rhythmic sound accompanies the practice and serves as a reminder of impermanence, generosity, and the letting go of attachment and self-grasping. The damaru is not simply an ordinary musical instrument or decorative object. It is a practice support and should be used respectfully, according to the instructions and transmission of one’s own teacher and lineage. Meaning in Chöd Practice In Chöd, sound forms part of the ritual offering. The movement and sound of the damaru accompany practices concerned with offering, compassion, awareness of impermanence, and cutting through habitual grasping. Its purpose is not performance. It is used within practice as a simple and direct ritual support. Handmade in Nepal This damaru is made in Nepal in a traditional style.
